Shifting perception from kennel to care

Shifting perception from kennel to care

Blaauwklippen Cattery offers premium long-stay accommodation for cats, with a focus on comfort, routine, and individual care. The project centred on repositioning the experience away from the traditional kennel model, creating a brand and digital presence that feels calm, considered, and closer to hospitality than pet boarding.
Approach
Reframing the experience
Most pet accommodation is positioned around function. Feeding schedules, enclosures, and availability tend to define how these services are understood.
This project required a different starting point. The focus shifted toward how the experience feels for both the cat and the owner. Comfort, routine, and attentiveness became central to the positioning, allowing the service to be seen as something more personal and considered.
Brand creation and identity
The brand needed to communicate reassurance without relying on explanation.
A soft, refined visual identity was developed to reflect calmness and care. This included logo design, typography, and a muted colour palette that feels gentle rather than clinical. The intention was to create a brand that feels patient and consistent, helping build trust through how it presents itself rather than what it claims.
Website design and experience
The website was designed to mirror the environment being offered.
Spacious layouts and a slower visual pace were used to reduce noise and guide users comfortably through the experience. Photography played a key role in communicating the environment, allowing visitors to understand the level of care without needing heavy explanation.
The structure prioritises clarity, making it easy for users to explore, understand, and take the next step without friction.
Booking system integration
Long-term stays require more structure than standard short bookings.
A custom booking system was integrated to manage units, pricing, and invoicing in a way that remains clear and reliable. This ensures that the operational side of the business supports the same level of consistency as the brand itself.
From initial enquiry through to extended stays, the process is designed to feel straightforward and well-managed.
Bringing it together
Each part of the project was developed to support the same outcome.
The brand builds trust. The website communicates it. The system sustains it.
Nothing feels disconnected, which allows the overall experience to feel calm, considered, and dependable.
